Phase 2 goes from Kongdori up towards Apharwat Peak. JKCCC statements quoted in the press give the top as 13,780 ft (about 4,200 m), while some guides list roughly 3,980 m, so treat it as “close to 4,000 m”. It is steeper and much colder, and it gives you the open snowfield views. Weather closes Phase 2 more often than Phase 1.

On a clear day the upper station gives wide views across the Pir Panjal range and, in good visibility, towards Nanga Parbat. On a cloudy day you may see only white, which is why we always suggest a morning slot and a spare day. Bring sunglasses, because the glare off snow at that height is strong.

A Phase 2 ticket needs a valid Phase 1 transaction reference, so you cannot book Phase 2 on its own. Save that reference and keep a screenshot until your whole ride is done. On the official portal, both phases can be booked in one Gulmarg Gondola ticket booking. Plan 3 to 4 hours for both phases, including queues and time at the stations. 3. Log in with your mobile number and enter the OTP.
4. Choose your date, Phase 1 (and Phase 2 if you want the full ride) and a time slot. Enter passenger names exactly as on your ID.
5. Pay online and save the e-ticket with its QR code. Download it or print a copy, because mobile signal in Gulmarg is weak.

Gulmarg Gondola ticket booking works differently if you are travelling from abroad, so read this section before you leave home. In December 2024 JKCCC introduced a booking route for foreign tourists in which the travel agency emails the visitors’ full names and passport numbers to the corporation at least two days before the visit. The press reports describe it as a facilitation based on feasibility, so it is not an unlimited guarantee.

What that means for you:

• Send your agency your full name exactly as printed on your passport, and your passport number, well before your Gulmarg day. Do not wait until the day before.
• Carry the same passport on the day. Gate staff check that your ID matches the ticket.
• Do not buy from street sellers in Gulmarg or from social media accounts. A fake ticket is the usual outcome.
• Add a spare weather day. Phase 2 can close, and flights do not wait for cable cars.

JKCCC’s managing director has said the corporation raised the quota and added Tatkal partly to help foreign visitors who plan at the last minute. Even so, December and January are the crush months, so foreign guests should lock in their Gulmarg Gondola ticket booking early. 1. Keep the official portal open a couple of minutes before 5 PM, and log in with your mobile number and OTP first.
2. Choose Tatkal ticket booking from the options (next to Normal booking, Confirmed tickets and Passes).
3. Select your phase, slot and number of passengers, then pay straight away.
4. Save your e-ticket and QR code.

Tatkal tips that help:

• Do it from strong WiFi or mobile data, such as your Srinagar hotel, and not from a Gulmarg signal that drops.
• Have your payment method ready and your passenger names typed in a note, so you only paste them.
• Pick the earliest slot that is still open. Early slots have clearer skies and shorter queues.
• If you miss it, try again the next evening. Cancelled seats sometimes come back, but do not rely on that.

• One 2026 guide, citing a JKCCC notification, says the Gondola stays shut on the second and fourth Monday of each month for maintenance. We could not confirm this from an official notice we can open, so check the notices before you plan a Monday ride.

Keep your confirmation until the money is back, because a Gulmarg Gondola ticket booking for a date that JKCCC later closes has been refunded in past announcements.
